Tempress is one of those once in a lifetime dogs. .
She is one of my foundation bitches, sired by Ch. Sana's Red Dawg of Wynrhunr and Dam is. Ch. Red Dawg's Nikita from Rufus.
Her show career began owner handled winning her 1st points at 6 months old on her first weekend out under judge Susan St. John Brown. The comments from the judge that day were "I hope you realize what you have here". How true her words were.
Tempress went on to finish her AKC conformation Championship after taking time off to mature. She obtained all her field & and conformation titles in 8 months. Including her Dual Championship. Tempress was owner handled except for the last few points when a medical condition arose that prevented me from handling her to the completion of her AKC Conformation Championship Title. She remains owner handled on the Lure Coursing Field.
Tempress loved to show so I committed to show her as a champion to she how she would do in 2007. She went on to win the hound group and also many hound group placements, in addition to her multiple best of breed wins. Additionally, she won an award of Merit at the 2007 Eukenuba Invitational & qualified for Crufts 2008.
Tempress finished 2007 as the #2 Conformation Rhodesian RIdgeback Bitch, #8 All Systems & #9 All Breed.
As a veteran she has won Best Veteran in Specialy Sweeps at the Az Rhodesian Ridgeback Specialty at 8 yrs old.
While showing is fun, her passion lies running in the field. Tempress loves to lure course & has won multiple AKC Best in Fields. Tempress has both her field championships in AKC & ASFA. (American Sighthound Field Association) and is an AKC LCX ( Lure Courser Excellent.)
Tempress's running genes have passed on to her get which were ranked in the top 25 AKC Lure Coursing Rhodesian Ridgebacks in 2012..Those rankings included Siena as #1, Angie as #16 and Simon as #21. Tempress was the only bitch to have 3 littermate get in the top 25 in 2012.
Tempress's gene's run strong as she obtained her Lure Courser Excellent 2 title at age 10.
As of July 25, 2014, Tempress was ranked the #16 Lure coursing Rhodesian Ridgeback (akc/asfa combined) at age 10. (She was tied with her 2 yr old cousin).
Sadly, Tempress passed at age 11 1/2 after a sudden illness and leaves a big empty space in my pack and my heart.
I was truly given a gift the day that Tempress entered my life. She awaits at Rainbow Bridge.
